M&M at Last!

This weekend we play Mutants and Masterminds. I've finished statting Rascal. Here's my drawing of him on the left. Should be fun! It'll also be an interesting experience playing with another PC, since the other two times I played it was a solo adventure with Scott running it.

I'm still anxious to play Mutants & Masterminds. Since I last posted, I have a totally different character. He's based on Nightwing (Dick Grayson, to those of you in my vast readership who aren't familiar with who Nightwing is) and is named Rascal, AKA Allen Dale (yes, different spelling, but a nod to you, Rick!). His mother was Rascal, sidekick to the abysmally named Robot Roy, her father. Hey, it was a kindler, gentler time back in the 50s in Halcyon, which is the name of the city where we operate. Scott did a whole background on the city. It's located on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I haven't drawn Rascal yet. I've been drawing Janica's character, who doesn't have a name yet, but is "a hot chick in black leather bodysuit." As usual. :) [Atomic Think Tank, the message board for M&M, is still down! It apparently crashed last week, mere hours after I posted to it. NO, is a complete coincidence. I wish it would come back online, I wanted to see if they could explain some concepts to me.]

I worked from home yesterday and got yet another draft done of the new Samford home page. Slow going! Especially when you have lots of people who need to look it over.

OH-biggest news is that The Books of Faiths: Hinduism was published yesterday, my latest Sahasra book. Go here for the announcement: http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=191228 and then buy it! EVERYbody needs more Hinduism in their lives! (And while you're in a Hindu mood, you must go to www.gheehappy.com. I love his artwork!)

AND, Scott and I finished Imperial Age Faeries. He turned it in on Saturday. Not sure when it will be published, but I'm excited about it. The very first gaming project he and I ever started to work on, some 5 years ago, was a proposal for GURPS Faeries. Which was turned down. Ah, ancient history.

The gaming group has finished the second part of Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde. They went back in as 5th level, so it wasn't much of a challenge. The third section will be most challenging, though. They're having fun, as am I. There's just something about a pre-run mod. I sure don't feel as anxious about everything working out, since I didn't make it up! Slaughtergarde is really well done, though. Cudos to Wizards of the Coast. Wish they'd do a sequel.

Game mood: Still Mutants & Masterminds

After a day or so of dithering, I've settled on Avatar to work on again. Paragon, but with a flaming sword of holy fire (hellfire, technically). I bought Ultimate Power and Instant Superheroes, both of which are really useful.

I'm pleased to have survived yesterday. Three meetings and teaching class. Whew! Class went well. I lectured/demonstrated instead of having them work along with me, although a lot of them did on their own. I think we're caught up.

Tomorrow we continue with Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde, after a week's break. I'm pleased with how the PCs are progressing.

Today's Game Mood: Mutants & Masterminds

I'm obsessing today about a new superhero, the incarnation of Kalki, avatar of Vishnu. Sorta like Shazam. In ordinary life he's Calvin Key, college student from Alabama. One day he became Kalki, fighter of evil and herald of the last age. (Origin story later.)

In real life, I'm continuing work on the School of Nursing site. It's slow going, but at least I've finished the Staff section, which was challenging.

Tomorrow I teach again. Let's hope there are no interruptions this time! No bad weather is forecast, so maybe the computers will cooperate and I can finally introduce them to positioning in CSS.
